So I found this cake...

I am always looking for interesting cake recipes.  Last week I came across a cake called Chocolate Blueberry Roulade Torte. I found an English translation for this recipe and got wicked excited.

I gathered everything I needed and got to work.

Quickly I realized something was not right with this recipe I believe several things got lost in translation.

I decided to nix the recipes all together and use the ones I knew were tried and true.

Old South Jelly Roll Cake from Paula Deen

Zest in the orange peel before folding in the egg whites.

Tish Boyle Brooklyn Blackout Cake

Make a double batch of the stabilized whipped frosting and add 1 TBSP of vanilla extract.

I started taking photos of the steps and completed cake, I didn't finish. I plan on making this cake and I will post the full set of photos. It was frustrating to work with this because of the issue with the translation. I learned that I can bake what I know and use those elements instead of what the original recipe called for. It was mainly the look I was going for which didn't turn out the way I wanted it too. That's when I found out to double the whipped cream recipe.
